MyTube Guard by Sopenu Lab

Privacy policy · Effective July 13, 2026

Your focus stays yours.

MyTube Guard is local-first: your rules, personal lists, and viewing-related metadata remain under your control.

Scope

This policy explains how the MyTube Guard Chrome extension, published by Sopenu Lab, handles information while providing YouTube filtering, organization, focus, and Dashboard Lock features.

Signed-out local use remains available without signing in. MyTube Guard also offers an optional Sopenu Account for account identity. The current release adds no analytics or advertising trackers and does not synchronize extension Settings, Rules, or Saved videos.

Optional Sopenu Account

If you choose Google sign-in, Supabase handles authentication for the optional Sopenu Account. Google and Supabase may process your Google Account email, provider user identifier, and basic profile identity such as your name or avatar when Google supplies it for login.

MyTube Guard does not access Gmail messages or your Gmail mailbox and does not use the Gmail API. Google sign-in does not give the extension permission to read Gmail, contacts, Drive files, or other Google product content.

Account identityThe minimum Google identity and Sopenu profile data needed to sign in and manage the account.
Session storageThe Supabase session is stored in extension-private IndexedDB so you can remain signed in.

Settings, Rules, and Saved videos do not sync to the Sopenu Account or cloud in this release.

Information processed on your device

To provide features you choose, MyTube Guard may read information visible on YouTube pages and store related records in Chrome extension storage on your device.

Settings and rulesFocus choices, page customization, retention settings, and filters you create.
Video metadataVideo IDs, URLs, titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, channel names, and channel IDs when available.
Classification recordsPrivate, Saved, Quarantine, Watched, and Automatic items, matching rule IDs, source-page type, and timestamps.
Local lock dataA random salt, derived PIN verifier, auto-lock duration, and temporary local unlock-session state.

How the information is used

  • Apply your filtering rules and page customization choices.
  • Show hidden or organized items in the extension Dashboard.
  • Restore or delete eligible items using Dashboard controls and retention settings.
  • Protect access to Dashboard views with the optional local Dashboard Lock.

MyTube Guard uses this information only for these user-facing extension features.

Dashboard PIN handling

The raw Dashboard PIN is not stored. The extension creates a random salt and a PBKDF2-derived verifier on your device. These values let MyTube Guard verify later PIN attempts without retaining the PIN itself.

Dashboard Lock helps prevent casual access to extension pages on a shared device. It does not replace an operating-system password, full-disk encryption, or other device-level security.

Transmission, sale, and sharing

The current release does not transmit extension settings, rules, video records, classifications, Saved videos, or Dashboard Lock data to Sopenu Lab or third parties. If you choose account sign-in, identity and authentication requests are transmitted to Google and the exact Supabase project used for the Sopenu Account.

  • We do not sell or rent extension data.
  • We add no analytics or advertising trackers and do not use extension data for advertising.
  • We do not use extension data for creditworthiness or lending decisions.
  • Sopenu Lab personnel cannot read data stored in your local Chrome extension storage. Account administration may expose the minimum account identity and profile data when needed for support, security, or legal obligations.

When you choose to open a YouTube video, the support site, or the Sopenu Lab website, your browser navigates to that destination at your request. Those sites apply their own privacy practices.

Retention and deletion

Records remain in Chrome extension storage until you delete an available Dashboard item or rule, an automatic retention rule removes an eligible record, or you uninstall MyTube Guard. Uninstalling the extension normally removes Chrome's locally stored data and extension-private account session. You can also sign out to remove the active local account session or use Sopenu Account controls to request account deletion.

What MyTube Guard does not do

MyTube Guard controls which content and interface sections appear on YouTube. It does not make browsing anonymous, prevent YouTube or your browser from recording activity, hide network activity from an internet provider, or block advertisements inserted into video playback.

Changes to this policy

If MyTube Guard's data practices change, we will update this page and its effective date. Material changes will also be reflected in the extension interface or Chrome Web Store disclosures when required.
